Anora’s Sustainability Roadmap
All of the actions under our sustainability roadmap align with our long-term goals. We produce our drinks in a Nordic, sustainable way: we have invested in our Koskenkorva Distillery for more than a decade to distil grain-based spirits following the principles of circular economy; we offer different climate-smart packaging for our products, such as PET plastic bottles and Bag-in-Boxes, and we provide near-market filling, which means we pack our wines close to the markets where they are sold to reduce transportation emissions; and we offer a broad range of no- and low-alcohol products to support a responsible drinking culture.
Koskenkorva Distillery is at the heart of Anora’s sustainability and efforts there are important in reaching our ESG-goals(Environmental Social Governance). The Distillery operates entirely based on circular economy principles, utilizing all side streams and even combusting barley husks in our own biopower plant. We have already decreased emissions at Koskenkorva by around half compared to 2014, but still, distilling is really energy intensive, and Koskenkorva Distillery accounts for around 70% of Anora’s own emissions (Scope 1-2). That’s why we have built an action plan in our 2030 roadmap to push our fossil emission down to zero at Koskenkorva Distillery during 2026 and at all of Anora’s production sites by 2030.
