SUVLA WINES
Drawing inspiration from its geographical location, historical fabric, and cultural richness, Suvla prioritizes local terroir and indigenous grape varieties, offering wines with rich character, enduring appeal, and consistently preferred qualities since 2009. Suvla wines are made from grapes harvested from Bozokbağ, an organically certified family vineyard located on the historic Gallipoli Peninsula, as well as from neighboring vineyards in the Northern Aegean and Thrace, and select regions of Turkey including Tokat, Elazığ, Diyarbakır, and Cappadocia. These special Suvla series represent the uniqueness of their geographical origins.
Suvla’s region, located between the Northern Aegean and Marmara Seas, has specific terroir characteristics with its proximity to the sea, iodized and resinous air, Karayel winds and clayey soil structure. The terroir characteristics and historical texture of the region, where organic vineyards were established in 2003, make this region one of the important winemaking centers preferred for viticulture. The lands where the Troia story took place stand out not only with their viticulture aspects, but also with their handcrafts, rich history and different gastronomic products.
Suvla’s portfolio includes over 70 labels, ranging from accessible series to limited, organic, and specialty productions, reflecting its meticulous attention to micro-varieties and local cultivars, particularly Karasakız (Mavrupalia). With an average of 30 years of experience and expertise, and with the guidance of French oenologists from Bordeaux and Val de Loir who have visited periodically since the beginning, the Suvla winemaking team produces white, rosé, and red wines under various series, focusing on different production techniques and varieties. Its own terroir, primarily featuring local grapes from the North Aegean and Eceabat regions such as Kınalı Yapıncak and Karasakız, as well as numerous small, private vineyards and local grape varieties, prioritizes offering a wealth of experience.
Since its launch, Suvla Wines has received nearly 750 awards, mostly gold and first prizes, in national and international competitions. Most recently, among other gold and silver awards, one of its most significant achievements is the title of “Best Winery in the Balkans,” awarded for seven consecutive years at the Balkans International Wine Competition. This title is one of the significant achievements in its vision to carry its brand into the future with its quality-focused production style.
